Neutral Series: MAC Fall Bronze Tutorial

So it’s been a while since my last blog entry. But if you’ve been keeping up with my recent videos, you know why.

This tutorial is one of the easiest looks to pull together. It’s a great mixture of warm-toned browns and bronze. I wear this look to work (minus the black shadow) and when I’m going out for a night with the girls. And it’s not too dark to be a daytime look. It’s perfect. And since I haven’t done a tutorial using MAC products, I figured why not do a look using some of my favorite MAC shadows?

MAC cosmetics has a ton of really great products. My all-time favorite lipsticks are by MAC, and the majority of my personal makeup and the makeup I use in my freelance kit is MAC. Though I don’t strictly stick to MAC. I use a LOT of great makeup products – both high end and drugstore brands (personally and in my kit). Though all of this is beside the point. Keep on reading if you would like to know what was used in this tutorial. If you’re interested in seeing how I put this look together, check out the video at the end of this post.

Neutral Series: Smashbox Softbox Daytime Taupe Tutorial

Two blog posts?! And less than a month in between?! Amazing! Haha.

Anyway….

I am absolutely in LOVE with the Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette. A great range of colors (all neutral, of course), where 4 of the colors are matte, 4 of the colors are shimmery, and 1 glitter shadow (bleeeegh!). Ok, ok, glitter shadows aren’t THAT bad…when you make sure to use a glitter adhesive. Otherwise you end up with glitter fallout all over your FACE! So annoying. But that’s getting off subject.

As promised in the description box of my video (linked below if you didn’t come here from YouTube), here is a list of everything I used for this look:

MAC 227 – Large Shader Brush (All over/brow bone highlight)

Neutral Series: Naked Palette Neutral Pink Tutorial

As you all know, I’m a big fan of neutral makeup. With my clients (mainly the models doing fashion shoots) I’m a lot more willing to experiment with brighter/edgier looks, but on myself, I always lean toward the neutral looks.

This look is soft, and great to wear for any occasion. You can keep it simple with only 1 or 2 colors, or you can darken it up with a little bit of black, gray, or dark brown shadows. No pictures this time since I was in a rush to get out the door, but the products I used are listed below.

MAC 227 – Large Shader Brush (All over/brow bone highlight)

EcoTools – Blush Brush (blush)

Everyday Makeup Look for Work, and a quick Giveaway update!

Yet another neutral look I’ve been LOVING lately for work. It’s a neutral smoked out purple/cool brown look, and I pretty much wore it for the entire month of May. Or well, when I actually had time to apply makeup in the morning. The look doesn’t take more than 15 minutes to do, so its doable for work days (unless you’re like me and value the extra 15 minutes of sleep! lol). Otherwise, it was just a quick application of concealer, powder, and mascara.

Makeup used for this video:
* MAC Select Cover-Up in NW25
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus
* Urban Decay Primer Potion
* MAC Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch

Now, I know you guys are eager to hear details about my 50 subscriber giveaway, and I’m eager to get that video up! Unfortunately, I ordered a couple things for prizes from Sephora and got an email saying that they were sold out and wouldn’t be able to ship my products. 😦 So I’m in the process of finding a few more things! Thanks for being patient, and sit tight for a little while longer and I will get it all together soon!

TAG: Five Minute Makeup Challenge!

So there’s this challenge going around on YouTube, and I thought it looked like fun! So I went ahead and did it and hope that other people can get around to doing it as well. 🙂 The look I used is a typical look I do for work – if I get around to putting any makeup on. Yes, I go to work without makeup on more often than I do WITH makeup on (What can I say? I’m a girl that values her sleep! The extra 10-15 minutes is more than worth it to me! lol). It’s a neutral look that is an almost barely there sort of neutral. I work for a very conservative company, so I tend to stray away from the bright makeup look. So for those that HAVE seen the video, here’s a list of what I used for this video:

I’ve got lots to put up yet! I have a day-night tutorial coming, a collective haul from things I’ve picked up over the last couple of months (since my trip to AZ), and my May favorites! (It’s June already?!) So stay tuned!!

Neutral Eye using NYX Runway Collection Palette

Another look using the NYX Runway Collection Palette in Jazz Night!! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this palette? Inexpensive, yet GREAT quality makeup! ULTA currently has NYX on sale (these palettes are $7.50 each!) through April 30th, 2010! And most, if not all of the rest of the NYX products they sell are Buy Two Get One Free!

Typically when I do a neutral look, I don’t usually use this much eyeliner. So, to me the look is “dramatic.” However, if it’s not dramatic enough for you, feel free to darken up the outer V with a touch of black shadow (there is a matte black in this palette) and use a slightly heavier hand with the liner for a thicker line and you will have a much more dramatic look!
