Review: Revlon Lip Butters

As promised (way too long ago…lol) here are the swatches for the lip butters I reviewed in my YouTube video (linked at the bottom of this post).

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Crème Brulee

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Peach Parfait

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Berry Smoothie

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Pink Truffle

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Candy Apple

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Red Velvet

Just a brief synopsis of what my video covered:

I am a big fan of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. The packaging is sleek, yet adorable (I LOVE the quilted pattern!). Packaging may not matter to some people, but I’m a sucker for cute packaging! These lip products basically feel like a lip balm with a LOT more color payoff than a typical balm. I’m not crazy about the colors that have shimmer because in my personal opinion, I feel like I can feel the reflects used in the product. BUT I still use them. The colors are lovely, and the staying power is hit or miss. They aren’t meant to be a long-lasting lipstick, however I do find that the darker colors (i.e. Red Velvet) tend to have longer staying power and need less touch up.

These lip butters are made with mango, shea and coconut butter, which are super hydrating ingredients, but when it comes to hydration, I prefer using a regular lip balm.

The only products I can personally compare these to are the MAC Sheen Supreme lipsticks. I don’t find the Revlon Lip Butters as hydrating as the Sheen Supreme, but these are at least 50% less in cost and are a lot more accessible because you can find them almost anywhere. Since I first picked them up, I have found their empty displays (definitely a hot commodity!) at the majority of the major drug stores, and stores like Ulta and even Bed Bath and Beyond (larger locations that have a large selection of personal hygiene/cosmetics).

My overall opinion: I love these things. My 2 favorites (so far) are Pink Truffle and Red Velvet. But I plan on picking up a few other colors, still. So we’ll see if they continue being my favorite. More than likely, they will continue to show up in my monthly favorites videos for quite some time!

TAG: Five Minute Makeup Challenge!

So there’s this challenge going around on YouTube, and I thought it looked like fun! So I went ahead and did it and hope that other people can get around to doing it as well. πŸ™‚ The look I used is a typical look I do for work – if I get around to putting any makeup on. Yes, I go to work without makeup on more often than I do WITH makeup on (What can I say? I’m a girl that values her sleep! The extra 10-15 minutes is more than worth it to me! lol). It’s a neutral look that is an almost barely there sort of neutral. I work for a very conservative company, so I tend to stray away from the bright makeup look. So for those that HAVE seen the video, here’s a list of what I used for this video:

Makeup used for this TAG:
* MAC Select Cover-Up in NW25
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus
* MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
* MAC Eyeshadow in All That Glitters
* MAC Eyeshadow in Era
* NYX Chocolate Brown from Smokey Eye Palette
* Covergirl LashBlast Fusion mascara
* Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Latino

Tools used for this TAG:
* Japonesque Kabuki brush
* MAC 239 brush
* MAC 217 brush
* Sonia Kashuk Crease brush
* MAC 224 brush

Check out the video and see how quick I put the look together!

I’ve got lots to put up yet! I have a day-night tutorial coming, a collective haul from things I’ve picked up over the last couple of months (since my trip to AZ), and my May favorites! (It’s June already?!) So stay tuned!!

Neutral with a Pop of Turquoise

Another look using a NYX Palette! I seriously LOVE these things! The two main products I used for this look is the NYX Runway Collection Palette in Champagne & Caviar and the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Flipside.

So this tutorial is a GREAT way to add a bright pop of color to your look without looking absolutely crazy! If you’re like me and prefer neutral looks, this is a way to incorporate some color into your makeup. I typically don’t stray too far from neutrals, and when I do, I aim for purples or greens. Never blues. So this was a FUN way to get some color to my look!

What’s in my Makeup Bag? Travel Edition!

I know I’m not alone when I’m packing my bags for a trip and have ABSOLUTELY no idea what to bring in my makeup bag. Sometimes I’ll go overboard and bring multiple bags of makeup, but this usually depends on circumstances. For example, when I’m going away with some girl friends for a weekend, if we plan on going out for a night on the town I end up doing everyone’s makeup. This usually results in needing lots of variety in what kind of makeup to bring. Since I had no idea what we would be doing in Arizona, I did just that – brought too much makeup BUT it all fit into 1 bag!
